Jennifer Hauser was appointed as the new McLeod County Public Health Agency coordinator by the Board of Commissioners at its June 16 meeting.
When the position first opened, the county considered different ways to re-structure the job. When there was not a lot of interest, especially internally, the board went back to fill the original job description. Hauser previously worked for the county and will start in July.
Human Resources Director Mary Jo Wieseler presented several staff recommendations from the June 9 personnel committee meeting.
The Board voted to permanently increase the hours for an office support aide at Solid Waste from 28 to 40 hours per week.
A current full-time public health nurse (PHN) will assume responsibility for the two-year PrimeWest grant in collaboration with Hutchinson Health. If the grant does not continue, this PHN will go back to its current responsibilities.
The County Board voted to hire a new full-time public health nurse, or a registered nurse if no PHNs apply or are considered. Continuance of this person’s employment will be determined by the continuance of the grant.
