Arden H. Jahnke, 84, of Minneapolis, died peacefully Sunday, July 26, 2015, surrounded by loved ones.
A memorial service is set for Friday, July 31, at 11 a.m., with visitation one hour prior, at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, 4101 Washington St. NE, Columbia Heights.
Arden Jahnke was born Aug. 3, 1930, to Ernest and Emma (Fredrich) Jahnke in Gibbon. He and his wife, Harriet, raised their family in northeast Minneapolis, where he worked the majority of his career at Soo Line Railroad and Advance United Trucking Company. They moved to Pequot Lakes, where they owned and operated the Pequot Motel until retiring to their lake home on Little Pelican Lake.
Mr. Jahnke is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Don; sister-in-law, Helaine Litzau; and brother-in-law, Gene Litzau.
He is survived by his wife, Harriet (Schuette); sons, Randy (Marilynn), Russell, Rick (Vera Woolery) and Robert; daughters, Diane (Kirby) Jahnke-Miller, Dawn Dziuk and Rebecca (Joseph) Nielsen; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Harvey Schuette; sisters-in-law, Carla Schuette and Gert Jahnke; and many nieces and nephews.
Arrangements are with Crest Tide Cremation Services in St. Paul.
