Midwest Industrial Tool Grinding, Inc., (MITGI), located in Hutchinson, has been named a finalist for the Minnesota Business magazine 2015 Manufacturing Awards in the Image award category. Recognizing excellence in Minnesota manufacturing, the Image award honors an organization for working to improve the industry’s image and the appeal of careers in manufacturing.
“The impact of raising the visibility of manufacturing in Minnesota is widespread. From a micro to a macro perspective, improving the perception of manufacturing elevates the growth potential for the entire industry,” explained Eric Lipke, MITGI president. “Through the collaborative efforts of MITGI employees, area businesses, and our school partners, we’re working to promote manufacturing, encourage students to consider jobs in the industry, and feed the steady stream of employees entering the workforce.”
“Through greater exposure to potential jobs and career fields, students may find the connection between their interests and talents to good-paying and readily available jobs in manufacturing,” said Sheila Murphy, director of human resources and safety. “By listening to the needs of area manufacturers, schools are creating career and technology education programs that help students prepare to enter the workforce, ready to learn or to begin work. Businesses looking at large numbers of workers preparing to retire from skilled labor positions are finding renewed interest in the industry from the next generation of young men and women. In our community, all of these factors contribute to the perception that the outlook for manufacturing is strong and viable.
