The Glencoe-Silver Lake cross country teams braved the wind and cold on Thursday, Oct. 8 to run in the Litchfield Invitational at Litchfield Golf Club. The GSL boys placed seventh in their 15-team field, while the girls took tenth out of 14 teams. Both squads competed over a 5,000-meter course.
Michael Schaefer led the Panthers in the boys’ race, taking seventh overall in a time of 16 minutes, 51. 16 seconds. Austin Schroepfer was not far behind, finishing 19th in 17:32.63.
Joseph Knudten took 38th in 18:07.86, with Oscar Pena placing 46th in 18:15.68 and Tyler Hausladen taking 66th in 18:41.18 to wrap up the GSL scoring.
The Panthers finished with 176 points; Annandale won the meet with 80. Also running for GSL were Ethan Knudten (92nd, 19:38.43) and Tyler Siewert (97th, 20:05.63).
The Panther girls recorded 231 points in their race, with Annandale again claiming the team win with 66 points. Megan Siewert led GSL with a 21st-place time of 20:52.25.
