“Rita” Bentz
Marguerita “Rita” Bentz, 81, of Hutchinson, died Wednesday, Dec. 23, 2015, at her home.
A celebration of life was held at the Dobratz-Hantge Chapel on Dec. 26, and interment and worship were held Sunday, Dec. 27. The Rev. Brian Brosz officiated, with Barb Wawrzyniak as the organist. Amber Collins was the soloist with the Collins Sisters as backup.
Marguerite “Rita” Bentz was born Oct. 25, 1934, in Augusta, Georgia, to Frederick F. and Marguerite Marschalk. She was baptized into the Lutheran faith, confirmed in the Lutheran faith, and married the love of her life, Granville A. Bentz, on June 17, 1953, at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church. She was blessed with four children, Jeffrey, David, Kenneth and Julia. She was a lifetime member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Augusta, Georgia, and Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Hutchinson.
She proudly served with the Hutchinson Police Department for 22 years as a police dispatcher.
She loved to swim, bake, sew, golf and travel to her friends and family in Augusta, Georgia. She volunteered her time and services to many, but loved to spend time with her family the most.
She is survived by her sons, David and Ken (Jolen), and daughter, Julia (Wade) Collins; grandchildren, Amber, David, Brady, Mercedes, Kayley, Andy and Savannah; her favorite sister, Mary; and brother, Ferdie.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Granville; son, Jeff; father and mother, Frederick F. and Marguerite Marschalk; and father-in-law and mother-in-law, A.C. and Lydia Bentz.
Arrangements were with the Dobratz-Hantge Chapel in Hutchinson.
