Mavis Joyce (Huser) Kruschke, 88, of Princeton, formerly of Lester Prairie, died peacefully on Monday, Dec. 21, 2015, at Caley House in Princeton.
Funeral services were held Monday, Dec. 28, at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church in Lester Prairie with the Rev. Eric Nelson officiating. Ike Carlson was the reader. Jane Holasek was the organist, and congregational hymns were “Abide With Me,” “Rock of Ages” and “What a Friend We Have in Jesus.”
Casket bearers were Diane Rifkin, Jane Alsleben, Julie Schweitzer, Jerry Alsleben, Neal Lampher and Bob Huser.
Interment was in the church cemetery.
Mavis Joyce (Huser) Kruschke was born Oct. 24, 1927, in Glencoe, to George and Clara (Schmidt) Huser. She was baptized as an infant on Nov. 13, 1927, by the Rev. E. Kolbe, and was confirmed in her faith on April 27, 1941, by the Rev. R. Streufert, both at First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Glencoe. She was educated in Glencoe, graduating from Glencoe High School.
On Feb. 28, 1948, she was united in marriage to Orland Herman Kruschke by the Rev. Streufert at First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Glencoe. They made their home in Lester Prairie. Their marriage was blessed with three children, Kathy, Peggy and Ted. The couple shared over 66 years of marriage before Mr. Kruschke’s death on April 13, 2014.
In addition to being a loving wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker, Mrs. Kruschke owned and operated Headquarters Café in Lester Prairie with her husband, and was a bookkeeper for 25 years at the Lester Prairie Feed Mill. She was an active member of St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, where she served as a Sunday school teacher, attended Bible study, and helped prepare sandwiches for the Sandwich Ministry.
Mrs. Kruschke enjoyed gardening, cooking, golfing and sewing. She was a hard worker, always devoted to her husband and family, treasuring the time she spent with them.
She is survived by her daughters, Kathy (Ike) Carlson of Princeton and Peggy Kruschke and her fiancé, Bob Moham, of Plymouth; son, Ted Kruschke of Benicia, California; grandchildren, Genna Carlson of Minneapolis and Catherine Kruschke of Benicia, California; sister, LaJune Dibb of St. Cloud; brothers-in-law and sister-in-law, Ruben and Ruth Kruschke of Glencoe and Bernice Kruschke of Hutchinson; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Clara Huser; husband, Orland Kruschke; brother and sister-in-law, Norma and Bea Huser; and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Earl Dibb, Ardin Kruschke, Vernon and Frieda Kruschke and Margaret and Irvin Rehmann.
