The Hockey Day celebration that was to be held at the Glencoe ice rink at 1 p.m. Saturday has been postponed until Feb. 27 due to the unseasonably warm weather conditions.
In a release from Hockey Day Director Ryan Voss:
"Due to unseasonably warm weather, the Hockey Day activities have been postponed for one week until Feb. 27th. If there is any ice left, we will try to play a game at that time. One of the goals of Saturday's event was to have a silent auction to raise a few dollars for providing better loaner equipment at the rink.
I think we should proceed with the silent auction items starting on Saturday through next Saturday the 27th. I'll put clipboards down at the rink for the silent auction. There are some great Wild items for the auction. We will announce the auction winners next Saturday at 1pm, or after the games - if we play.
The Glencoe park department is already looking at purchasing a liner to extend the life of the ice for next season. Hopefully next year will be a more normal Minnesota winter."
