Aaron Donnay had quite a stage for what was likely his final wrestling appearance last week at the state tournament. The Glencoe-Silver Lake senior chalked up one last win of the season before bowing out with a pair of defeats on the rubberized floor of the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul.
“I was excited and nervous – a bundle of nerves,” Donnay said. “Overall, I didn’t do as well as I could have, but it was a lot of fun to be there.”
Donnay concluded his year with a 35-7 overall record with the 1-2 mark over three state matches at 138 pounds that took place on Friday, Feb. 26.
The day began in triumphant manner as Donnay defeated Wabasso/Red Rock Central’s Jared Schroepfer 6-2 in a morning match.
