On Feb. 25, the American Red Cross, sponsored by the Plato Lions Club, had a blood drive at Lighthouse Church, Plato.
Forty-four whole units of blod and nine double-red units, for a total of 61 units, were collected. The goal was 43 units. Each unit can save up to 10 lives.
Bump’s Restaurant and Unhinged! Pizza donated $5 gift certificates, which were given to donors who gave double-red units. Leon Alsleben received a pin for having reached a milestone of four gallons donated.
The next Plato blood drive will be held Thursday, June 30, from noon to 6 p.m., at Lighthouse Church.
