Florian Michael Nowak, 87, of Silver Lake, died Thursday, Feb. 25, 2016, at Cedar Crest Estate of Silver Lake.
A concelebrated Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, March 3, at 11 a.m., at Holy Family Catholic Church in Silver Lake with the Revs. Tony Stubeda, Paul Schumacher and Mark Mallak as concelebrants.
Visitation will be Wednesday, March 2, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., with a prayer service at 8 p.m., at Holy Family Catholic Church in Silver Lake. Further visitation will be Thursday morning at the church, one hour prior to the Mass.
Casket bearers will be Harry Nowak Jr., Steve Nowak, Frank Nowak, Duane Jaskowiak, Tom Eischens and Kevin Jacques.
Interment will follow the Mass at St. Adalbert’s Cemetery, Silver Lake.
Florian Michael Nowak was born Feb. 14, 1929, in Silver Lake, the son of Boylish and Frances (Jurek) Nowak. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Adalbert Catholic Church in Silver Lake.
On Sept. 5, 1950, Florian Nowak and Marietta Fasching were joined in holy marriage at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Winsted. God blessed their marriage with 10 children. They celebrated nearly 63 years of marriage.
Mr. Nowak was engaged in dairy farming and also raised poultry, sheep and hogs. He also was a Pioneer Seed salesman. He served as a township assessor.
Mr. Nowak was a loving and caring man, who was always willing to lend a helping hand. He enjoyed spending time with his family and was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He enjoyed playing the concertina.
He is survived by his children, Diane (Bill) Hlavka, Mary Ann (Mark) Madson, Phil Nowak, Joyce (Gary) Jerabek, Kathy (Bruce) Exsted, Jeanette (Larry) Mickolichek and Gerry Nowak (Becky); 26 grandchildren, Kristin Hlavka, Steph (Jim) Smyth, Jackie Hlavka (Trevor), Marisa (Mike) McKeever, Allyson Hlavka, Amy (Grady) Knuth, Matt (Brianne) Nowak, Heidi Salisbury, Mike (Heather) Piehl, Janae (Jarrod) Witte, Kate Madson, Anne Madson, Jason (Sarah) Jerabek, Joel (Hannah) Jerabek, Jon (Beth) Jerabek, Kelli Nowak (Kelly), Cory Nowak, Stacy (Derek) Clarkin, Darrin Exsted, Ryan Exsted, Megan Mickolichek (Adam), Jamie Mickolichek (Adam), Alexandra (Yancey) Nowak, Erin Nowak, Joanna Nowak and Zach Nowak; 15 great-grandchildren, Rosalyn, Audrey and Lilian Smyth, Emma Salisbury, Jack and Joey Jerabek, Brynn, Isla and Elam Clarkin, Caleb and Liam Piehl, Austin Catlin, Fulton Anderson, Elsie Jerabek and Lyla Knuth; sister, Margaret Eischens; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Lucille Nowak, Ed (Irene) Fasching, Joseph (Anne) Fasching, Jack Fasching, Irene Otto, Grace (Jim) Nolan, Rose (Syl) Mallak and Linda (Gary) Ruhland; many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Marietta; sons, Mike, Larry and Chris Nowak; granddaughter, Amanda Nowak; great-grandson, Kaydin Salisbury; his parents; brother, Harry Nowak Sr.; sister, Cecelia Jaskowiak; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Joseph and Appolonia (Stifter) Fasching; and brothers-in-law, Bernard Jaskowiak and Laurence Eischens.
