The Silver Lake City Council held a special meeting on Monday, May 2, to review and approve the bids for the purchase of a new water tank for a truck for the fire department.
The department sent four bid requests and received one back.
The lone bid was from US Tanker in Delavan, Wisconsin, for $144,739.
The bid is for a 2,500-gallon polypropylene tank with steel skirting with all the necessary pumps and gears. The new tank will be installed on a 2007 Freightliner chassis that was purchased last year.
Once the contract is signed, the department will receive the exact specifications that are needed and will have the chassis shortened for around $1,800 and purchase new tires for around $1,200 before taking it to Wisconsin.
