On a sparkling afternoon and evening at Stevens Seminary Stadium, the Glencoe-Silver Lake track and field teams saw several of their members advance to within one step of state with qualifying performances in the Section 2A Subsection 8 meet on Thursday, May 26.
The top four individuals and best two relay teams in each event advance to the Section 2A championship meet, which is scheduled to be held at Mankato West High School on Saturday.
GSL will be well represented in the 100-meter hurdles at that title meet as Mickalyn Frahm, Taryn Reichow and Mariah Koester finished second through fourth, respectively. Frahm finished in 16.98 seconds, Reichow in 18.24 and Koester in 18.94.
Rhyan Herrmann heads to Mankato as subsection champion in the 100-meter dash, besting the field with a 12.87.
Also heading to the 2A title meet as subsection victor is Maddie Monahan, who won the 300-meter hurdles in 46.38. Holly Bandemer will join Monahan after finishing third in 52.08.
