Gwendolyn “Gwen” G. Dvorak, 89, of Glencoe, died Monday, July 18, 2016, at Glencoe Regional Health Services Long Term Care.
A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial was held Thursday, July 21, at St. Pius X Catholic Church in Glencoe with the Rev. Tony Stubeda as the celebrant.
Honorary pallbearers were her grandchildren, Eric, Jamie, Josh, Matt, Brian, Brianna, Cassie, Cheslie, Preston, Cagney, Payton, Devon, Teagan, Mitch and Caitlin.
Interment was in the St. Pius X Catholic Cemetery.
Gwen Dvorak was born Aug. 19, 1926, in Waconia, the daughter of William and May (Patterson) Graff.
She married her late husband, George, on May 12, 1956, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Minneapolis. They resided in Minneapolis after they were married, where they enjoyed spending time dancing together. They moved to Buffalo, where they raised their five children. In 1976, they moved to Young America to live on the family farm. Eventually, they moved to Glencoe, where she lived until her death.
Mrs. Dvorak loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed nothing more than to have her house filled with the noise and laughter of her family. She enjoyed hosting holidays, having fish frys, and other family gatherings. In her later years, she became an avid Twins fan, and loved to read and watch the birds. She also worked at the food shelf until well into her 80s.
She is survived by her loving family: children, William (Kathy) Dvorak of Norwood Young America, Elizabeth Dvorak of Glencoe, Thomas (Tammy) Dvorak of Norwood Young America, James (Carol) Dvorak of Norwood Young America and Eugene (Kim) Dvorak of Norwood Young America; grandchildren, Eric (Melissa) Dvorak, Jamie (Matthew) Smith, Joshua (Shawna) Tverberg, Matthew Tverberg, Brian Dvorak, Brianna Dvorak, Cassie (Mike) Morris, Chelsie Dvorak, Preston (Sara) Dvorak, Cagney Rosenau and fiancé Ryan Weiland, Payton Dvorak, Devon Dvorak, Teagan Dvorak, Mitchell Feltmann and special friend Amanda Gahler, and Caitlyn Dvorak; great-grandchildren, Graham, Jameson, Avery, Hadley, Brayden, Joslyn, Conner, Colten, Michaela, Tyson, Danika, Tori, Taya and baby girl due in September; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George; and parents,William and May Gaff.
