The 23rd annual Relay For Life of McLeod County is set for Friday, Aug. 5, at Masonic West River Park in Hutchinson.
Luminary bags will be set on the walking paths at 9 a.m. At 3 p.m., a silent auction, reflection tent, survivor sanctuary and care giver circle all open. All Relay activities and campsites will open to the public.
Survivors’ registration is from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Team photos start at 5 p.m., as does music by The BASICS. The survivors’ photo will be taken at 6:15 p.m.
The open ceremony starts at 6:30 p.m., with a speech by Sara Pollmann, a cancer survivor. At 7 p.m., butterflies will be released. At 7:15 p.m., survivors will be introduced, followed by a first lap on the walkway, led by the Phoenix Drumline and cancer survivors. The silent auction ends at 8:15 p.m.
The lighting of the luminaries along the walkways will start at 9 p.m., followed by a luminaria ceremony at 9:15 p.m. with music by Tara Tepley. A silent lap will follow the luminaria ceremony.
The closing ceremony will be held Saturday, Aug. 6, at 5:30 p.m.
