Filings for candidacy trickling in for school, city council ballots

Filings for candidacy are trickling in for the Glencoe-Silver Lake School Board, the city of Glencoe, and surrounding communities.
The filing period remains open through Tuesday, Aug. 16.
Two incumbents have filed for re-election to the Glencoe-Silver Lake School Board: Kevin Kuester and Jamie Alsleben. The seat currently held by Donna VonBerge also is up for election. School board terms are for four years.
In the city of Glencoe, Mayor Randy Wilson, Council Member Kevin Dietz, Precinct 4, and Daniel Perschau, Precinct 1, have all filed for re-election.
The city of Brownton has had two filings. Mayor Norman Schwarze is seeking a second two-year term as mayor, and resident Tim Durbin has filed for one of the two open council seats. Incumbent Tim Olson was expected to file Tuesday afternoon. The other council seat is currently held by Brian Dressel. The council positions are for four-year terms.
As of Tuesday, just one filing had been received in the city of Plato. Dennis Oltmann is seeking re-election to his city council seat. Also up for election are the mayoral seat held by Bob Becker and a council position currently held by Robert Pflipsen.
The city of Silver Lake has not had any filings as of Tuesday. Up for election are the seats held by Mayor Bruce Bebo and council members Nolan Johnson and Brenda Fogarty.
The city of Stewart also has not had any filings as of Tuesday. The seats held by Mayor Jason Peirce, and council members Jim Eitel, Kevin Klucas and Carol Alterichter are all up this year.
In New Auburn, Fred Grack and incumbent Doug Munsch have both filed for mayor. Filing for the city council are Dennis Kuehl and Rebecca Brockoff, both incumbents.
The Chronicle was unable to make contact with the city of Biscay, where the mayor’s seat and all the council seats are on the ballot.
