The Renville County Board of Commissioners met in emergency session today (Thursday) to declare a state of emergency due to the recent heavy rain and flooding that affected much of the county, according to Emergency Management Director Mike Hennen.
The West Central Tribune in Willmar reported that Olivia had over 9 inches of rain Wednesday night into Thursday morning.
This declaration is the first step in the process of obtaining disaster assistance for government owned property damaged by the storm.
Renville County Emergency Management is conducting damage assessments and requests any units of government within the county to please contact the emergency management office at 320-522-1481 to report damage to roads or other government property within their jurisdiction.
Renville County is located directly west of McLeod County. Reports of rain throughout McLeod County ranged from 4 to 7 inches.
