Malayh Metcalf earned a pair of top-10 finishes to lead the Glencoe-Silver Lake girls’ cross-country team in two meets last week.
Metcalf, a seventh-grader, finished second out of 50 runners in the Dassel-Cokato Invitational on Tuesday, Sept. 27, and then came in ninth out of 216 competitors in the Class A race at the Swain Invitational in Duluth on Saturday, Oct. 1.
Metcalf ran a time of 20 minutes, 59.20 seconds at Collinwood Park in Cokato, pacing the Panthers to a fifth-place overall finish with 129 points. GSL finished well ahead of seventh-place Mound Westonka (160 points), while Rockford took fifth in the Wright County Conference-centric meet with 106 points.
Kendall Guerrero placed 18th at the meet with a time of 23:06.18, while Gia Venier was 24th in 23:19.79.
Majkya Metcalf was 40th in 24:14.20, while Abigale Boetel took 45th in 25:58.75 to round out the team scoring.
