Three members of the Glencoe-Silver Lake cross-country teams will represent their program and their school at the state Class A meet after earning qualifying placements at the Section 2A championship competition in Montgomery on Friday, Oct. 28.
Malayh Metcalf from the Panther girls’ team will join both Austin Schroepfer and Michael Meyer from the boys’ squad at St. Olaf College in Northfield on Saturday, Nov. 5, running in their respective fields among the best that Class A has to offer.
Metcalf, a seventh-grader, earned her slot at state by finishing 10th out of 143 competitors at Montgomery Golf Course, finishing the 5,000-meter course in a time of 19 minutes, 59.19 seconds.
She will be making her state debut amongst the hills and fields on the northwest side of Northfield this weekend.
Schroepfer and Meyer, both seniors, each return to Northfield after running with the section champion GSL boys’ team last season.
