Expectations are tempered for this season’s Glencoe-Silver Lake/Lester Prairie wrestling team, but while numbers are a bit down with approximately 25 wrestlers at the upper levels, there’s still good reason for optimism concerning this year’s Panthers.
“We’re down a bit number-wise, but it’s a real good group of kids,” coach Lance Wurm said. “They work real hard.”
Seniors Peyton Sell and Kole Polzin co-captain this year’s unit. Three other seniors – Dalton Kosek, Tanner Chmielewski and Michael Meyer – rank among the grapplers that the Panthers will be counting on this winter. Paul Lemke, Cody Rae and Zach Voelz are among the key returning underclassmen.
“We don’t have many juniors and sophomores,” Wurm said. “We’re very young and there are a lot of light weights, especially with the younger guys.”
