The Glencoe-Silver Lake gymnastics team got its season off to a spirited start at the "Winter Wonderland" meet in Northfield on Saturday, Dec. 10.
Due to the snowy conditions, only four of the eight teams scheduled to appear at the Northfield Gymnastics Center actually showed up for the competition, making for a quick day for the Panthers.
The meet used a unique scoring system in that the teams predicted their score at the beginning of the meet, and then attempted to come as close to their call as possible.
"This is also considered a 'fun meet,'" coach Kim Hahn said. "The teams could also wear their ugliest leotards during competition, make their hair look funny, makeup, etc."
The GSL varsity shot for a score of 100, with the junior varsity going for a score of 70. Under meet rules, the varsity finished third with a 104.80, while the JV took first with a 71.9.
