It was a busy weekend for the Glencoe-Silver Lake/ Lester Prairie wrestling team. The Panthers grappled in a triangular meet at Northfield on Friday, Dec. 9, then headed back east for a tournament in Chanhassen the next day.
It was a rough evening for GSL/LP at Northfield, with the Panthers coming up on the short end of both of its matches – losing 57-13 to the host Raiders and 66-6 to fellow triangular competitor New Prague.
Panther wrestlers won three matches against Northfield. Tanner Chmielewski scored a major decision (10-1) at 120 pounds, Kole Polzin won by fall at 138 and Cody Rae scored a 6-0 decision at 160. Against the Trojans, only Peyton Sell's win by fall at 285 prevented the shutout.
Just over 12 hours later, GSL/LP was back in action at the Ethan Herman Memorial Tournament at Chanhassen High School.
Going up against several squads from Class AAA, the Panthers managed to finish seventh out of 11 teams by posting a score of 72.
