It was a happy holidays for the Glencoe-Silver Lake boys’ basketball team – and then some.
The Panthers entered the new year riding high on a six-game winning streak that included taking first place in its own holiday tournament, held Dec. 28-29.
“I won’t lie, it feels mighty good,” coach Robb DeCorsey said. “We are all jacked up and feeling good about it.”
After opening the season with three consecutive losses, GSL closed out the month of December with a half-dozen victories.
The streak that began with a 65-50 triumph at Hutchinson ran through the end of 2016 with back-to-back tournament wins over St. Croix Prep and Holy Family Catholic.
“It’s something we knew we could do,” DeCorsey said of the run. “The guys are always working hard – we just had to put things together.”
