The Silver Lake City Council asked City Clerk Kerry Venier to move forward with a loan application for the demolition of four buildings on Main Street at its Jan. 3 meeting.
The city currently owns two of the buildings that have been condemned, and will look to purchase the two adjoining buildings.
All four buildings are currently unoccupied and have been for some time.
The city is seeking a loan of $200,000, which would include demolition, interior asbestos abatement, and acquisition of the two additional properties.
The loan has a 15-year term, will not require payments to begin for three years, and has the potential to be fully or partially forgiven if the site is redeveloped.
