For the first time in over a month, the Glencoe-Silver Lake boys’ basketball team succumbed to an opponent as Litchfield halted the Panthers’ nine-game winning streak on Friday, Jan. 13.
GSL, playing for the first time in a week, could not fully recover from a first-half scorching from the Dragons in their Wright County conference West opener as visiting Litchfield took home a 58-50 victory in dropping the Panthers to 9-4 on the season.
“It was ugly,” coach Robb DeCorsey said. “The night did not go well for us, we were just out of sort.”
Slashing and dashing their way around the court, the Dragons got out to a big lead early and carried a 27-13 lead into halftime.
Conversely, coming off a week of “rest” that saw four members of the team battling ailments and missing practices, GSL made just three field goals in the entire first half.
