In its lone contest of last week, the Glencoe-Silver Lake boys' basketball team came up on the short side of a 72-62 loss at Litchfield on Friday, Feb. 10, as the Dragons clinched a regular-season sweep against the Panthers.
Much like the first game between the teams, Litchfield burst out to a massive halftime lead before holding on against a GSL second-half rally.
When the teams played in Glencoe on Jan. 13, the Dragons led 27-13 en route to a 58-50 victory. Last Friday, Litchfield led 40-20 at the break before the Panthers cut half off that margin in the second half to lose by 10 points.
Two players from each team mustered up double-digit scoring nights, with guard Luke Frahm leading GSL with 25 points. Forward Kyle Christensen scored 14 points, with guards Mitchell Boesche and Nick Schmidt logging seven points apiece.
It was the Panthers' sixth loss in 11 games since New Year's Day and the third in the last five games. GSL entered this week in sixth place in the Wright County Conference West with a 2-6 record in circuit games. The Panthers remain above .500 overall with an 11-9 record.
