The 2016-17 campaign came to a close for the Glencoe-Silver Lake/Lester Prairie wrestling team at the Section 2AA individual meet last weekend.
The two-day competition, held at snowbound Waseca High School on Feb. 24-25, saw a pair of GSL/LP wrestlers place as high as fourth, with no Panthers qualifying to move on to the state tournament.
Senior Dalton Kosek concluded his high school wrestling career by earning his 75th win as a member of the Panthers en route to a fourth-place finish at 152 pounds.
Kosek, who went 4-2 at the tournament, lost his last match by a 5-1 score to St. Peter’s Sage Loredo after defeating Mankato West’s Simon Koenings (3-2), Tri-City United’s Zach Mikel (6-3) and Scott West’s Jace Dammers (3-1) and Waseca’s Dylan Spencer (fall) in earlier competition.
On the opposite end of the spectrum, a wrestler just beginning his varsity career also earned a fourth-place sectional result.
