٠2018 Infrastructure Project – SEH Engineer Rodeberg reported the loan is locked in at 2.25% interest rate. The design is current 30% complete. The project will be split into two phases 1) Street and Utility and 2) Wastewater and Water Treatment. A 2nd public informational meeting will be planned in April. The Feasibility Report will be reviewed in May; a public hearing for Neighborhood Assessment Rolls will be planned for June. Goal for ads for bid is January, 2018 with substantial project completion by 2018 year end. Completion of the Wastewater Building will also be considered part of the project.
٠Public Works report included patching potholes, sweeping streets, attempting work on alleys (too wet) and impending tree trimming. Vehicle gas oder in manhole on 1st Avenue South; may be from contaminated soils. Public be aware not to dump gas into sewer. Well inspections complete with no issues reported. Sentence to Serve arranged to cleanup park and cemetery. Manhole in the civic center parking lot will be raised when next lift is done this spring. Lawnmowers are ready for mowing season.
٠Police Chief reported transfer case went out on the squad, fortunately still under warranty. Will serve the grocery store owner with a criminal complaint for liability charges as the building continues to crumble. PD has relaxed the No Parking ban on streets, however, residents will be charged if parked on streets during snow removal.
٠Brownton Bar owner has been given ok to plant trees north of the bar. If having outside bands, noise ordinance states they must shut down by midnight.
٠Councilmen Dressel and Olson attended a natural gas emergency response class and returned with positive feedback. The Brownton Fire Department was trained originally and receives new information annually as a refresher.
٠ Fire Department roof is in need of repair; estimate of $33,730 was received from Vos. FD is also applying for FEMA grant to help pay for new turnout gear and is purchasing some new boots with DNR grant.
