Raymond Draeger, 70, of Glencoe, formerly of Brownton, died Monday, March 27, 2017, at Glencoe Regional Health Services Long Term Care.
Funeral services were held Friday, April 7, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Brownton with the Rev. R. Allan Reed officiating. Dawn Wolter was the organist. Congregational hymns were “Rock of Ages,” “On Eagle’s Wings” and “Abide With Me.”
Honorary casket bearers were Deb Fenske, Karleen Cowger, Kim Ribar and Kristen Draeger. Casket bearers were Randy Wendland, Steve Draeger, Curt Wendland, Burt Draeger, Bruce Draeger, Brian Draeger and Brandon Draeger.
Interment was in the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery in Brownton.
Raymond “Ray” August Draeger was born Sept. 27, 1946, in Glencoe, the son of Arthur and Elda (Ostermann) Draeger. He was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Brownton. He received his education at Brownton Public School, graduating in 1965.
He farmed with his dad on the family farm. He later worked at 3M in Hutchinson and farmed the family farm. He also worked for various farmers.
For several years, Mr. Draeger held family camp-outs on his farm, which he really enjoyed. He also enjoyed fishing and hunting in his younger years. He loved the ice fishing trips up north and fishing trips to Canada in spring.
He is survived by his brothers and their wives, Roger and Joy Draeger and Howard and Barb Draeger, all of Brownton; sister-in-law, Celia Mae Draeger of Silver Lake; and many nieces, nephews, and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Elda Draeger; brother, Lawrence Draeger; and sisters, Delores Draeger and Edna Wendland and her husband Ellsworth.
