The postseason looms for the Glencoe-Silver Lake softball team, as the Panthers found out that they will travel to Watertown-Mayer for the Section 5AA opener on Friday afternoon.
GSL was handed the No. 5 seed for the 5AA East subsection after entering this week on a six-game losing streak. The Panthers came up short on all three of their games last week, falling 10-2 at Mound Westonka on Tuesday, May 9, and then losing at Dassel-Cokato and Norwood-Young America to close out the stretch.
Results were not available for the Mound Westonka game. Against Dassel-Cokato on Thursday, May 11, Kasidy Cacka drove in three runs on a 2-for-3 day at the plate. Samantha Voigt also went 2-for-3 with one RBI.
Kaitlyn Uecker drove in Lexi Hansch to give GSL a 1-0 lead at NYA on Friday, May 12. Unfortunately for the Panthers, the Raiders scored the next three touchdowns to win 21-1 in five innings.
Entering this week, Uecker leads GSL with a .452 batting average and nine RBI on the season. Hansch is tops on the squad with 12 runs scored. Hansch and Brianna Wraspir each have one of the Panthers’ two home runs this spring.
