Both the Glencoe-Silver Lake boys’ and girls’ track and field teams claimed fifth-place finishes in their respective competitions at the Wright County Conference West championship meet on Tuesday, May 16, at Dassel-Cokato.
The Panther boys were beat out by one-half point for fourth place, claiming an even 85 points to 85.5 for New London-Spicer. Mound Westonka won the boys’ title with 143 points.
In the mean time, the Panther girls were solidly entrenched in fifth, taking 79.83 points to finish just over 13 points behind fourth-place Litchfield. Annandale won the girls’ title with 136.33 points.
Austin Schroepfer turned in the Panthers’ top individual performance, winning the boys’ 1600- and 3200-meter runs in respective times of four minutes, 38.95 seconds and 10:26.79.
Zoe Christensen claimed the lone event win for the GSL girls, taking first in the shot put by over two-and-a-half feet with a toss of 37 feet, 11 inches.
