Three members of the Glencoe-Silver Lake track and field teams will represent the Panthers at this weekend’s state Class A meet after their qualifying performances at the Section 2A championships at Mankato West on Saturday, June 3.
Senior Maddie Monahan and junior Zoe Christensen will be making return trips to state, while senior Jacob Litzau is making his debut on Class A’s top stage.
Litzau placed second in shot put at the Section 2A meet with a toss of 50 feet, 4.25 inches. The throw was over 10 inches further than his “seed” throw of 49-06.
His section throw is seventh best among the 16 that qualified for state.
Litzau will be joined in the shot put pit by Christensen, who is returning to state after finishing seventh in the shot put at the 2015 state meet despite competing with an injured knee.
Christensen, who broke the Panthers’ all-time 100-meter hurdles record at the subsection meet, broke the team’s shot put record with a lob of 40-05 to take second at the section meet.
