The Glencoe VFW Post 5102 baseball team is off to a 2-2 start this season after splitting its opening quartet of contests.
Glencoe opened the summer with a 4-3 loss at St. Michael-Albertville on Thursday, June 1. Adam Garouette led 5102 with two RBI on a 2-for-3 day at the plate, with Preston Sturges logging the team’s other RBI.
Tyler Christensen started and earned the win as Glencoe thumped visiting Delano 9-2 on Monday, June 5. Andrew Wraspir had two RBI in a 2-for-3 game, with Carl Hormmann going 2-for-4 with two doubles and a RBI. Christensen also had an RBI while going 1-for-2 with two walks.
A split with the Hutch 15’s on Thursday, June 8, kept 5102 at the .500 mark.
Both teams banged out nine hits as Hutchinson won the opener 6-5. Reece Schwirtz went 3-for-3 with a walk, while Hormmann, Christensen and Brett Baumgarten claimed one RBI each.
