The Plato American Legion Post 641 baseball team entered this week with a 3-0 record after winning its first two home games of the summer last week.
First up, Plato improved to 2-0 against Southwest by winning for the second time in as many games against its Cologne-based rival, 8-3, on Wednesday, June 14, at Bluejay Stadium.
After topping Southwest 1-0 in the season opener, Plato scored a pair of runs in its first turn at the plate.
Taylor Schauer led Plato off in with a single in the bottom of the first and later scored as Carsen Streich reached base on a fielder’s choice. Streich himself was batted around the bases and scored on a Tyler Siewert single as the hosts took a lead they did not relinquish.
Plato scored twice more in the second, and then added three more runs in the fourth and one in the sixth en route to the five-run win.
