Vanna Jean (Sprengeler) Knacke, 68, of New Auburn, wife of Kraig Knacke, died Wednesday, Aug. 9, 2017, at Oak Terrace Health Care Center in Gaylord.
The funeral service was held Monday, Aug. 14, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in New Auburn with the Rev. Bradley “Brad” Danielson officiating. Kara Scholla was the organist and pianist. Soloist Kristen Hansch sang “Over the Rainbow.” Congregational hymns were “Just a Closer Walk With Me” and “Softly and Tenderly.”
Honorary casket bearers were her grandchildren, Amanda Rischmiller, Jen Schauer, Zach Rischmiller, Larissa Eberhard, Claire Becker, Tory Knacke, Lexi Lemke, Brook Knacke and Kayla Knacke, and nephew, Jason Ryan, deceased.
Casket bearers were Jeff Ryan, Nicole Sidwell, Laurie Becker, Paul Ringo, Jane Setterman and Ty Knacke.
Interment was in the High Island Cemetery in New Auburn.
Vanna Jean (Sprengeler) Knacke was born Sept. 28, 1948, in Glencoe, the daughter of Vernon and Ordell (Borchert) Sprengeler Bressler. She was baptized as an infant on Oct. 10, 1948, at Emanuel Lutheran Church in Hamburg, and was confirmed in her faith as a youth. She received her education in Glencoe and was a graduate of the Glencoe High School class of 1966.
On Oct. 22, 1966, she was united in marriage to Kraig Knacke at Immanuel Lutheran Church in New Auburn. After their marriage, the couple resided in Berkeley, California. In 1968, they moved to New Auburn. They were blessed with four children, Troy, Michelle, Clint and Mindy. They shared 50 years of marriage.
Mrs. Knacke was employed at Telex in Glencoe, was a licensed day care provider, worked at HTI in Hutchinson and at Starkey’s in Glencoe.
She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in New Auburn and was on the altar guild and was a member of WELCA.
She enjoyed playing Scrabble, Words With Friends on her iPad, watching her favorite TV shows, cooking and baking comfort foods for her family and friends. No one ever starved! She cherished the time spent with her children and their families.
She is survived by her husband, Kraig Knacke of New Auburn, children, Troy (Sheila) Knacke of Gaylord, Michelle (David) Rischmiller of New Auburn, Clint (Michelle) Knacke of Minnetrista and Mindy Knacke (significant other Dean Lemke) of Waverly; mother, Ordell Bressler of Gaylord; grandchildren, Tory and Ty Knacke, Larissa (Ben) Eberhard, Claire Becker, Amanda Rischmiller (significant other Mike Hamlin), Jen (Joey) Schauer, Zach (Jill) Rischmiller, Brooke and Kayla Knacke and Lexi Lemke; great-grandchildren, Izabella and Scarlett Hamlin, Jack, Lucas and Johnny Schauer, Max and Hadley Rischmiller; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her father, Vernon Sprengeler; stepfather, Glen Bressler; uncle, Duane Borchert; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Herman and Myrtle Knacke; brother-in-law, Roger Knacke; and sister-in-law, Kathy Knacke.
