New gym opens with Monday Night Volleyball

The new “Black” gym at Glencoe-Silver Lake High School saw its first taste of competition – and victory – as the Panther volleyball team rallied to defeat visiting Belle Plaine in five games on Monday, Sept. 25.

Senior running back Carsen Streich returned to the backfield for the Glencoe-Silver Lake football team after a long absence due to an injured spleen suffered this past summer. Streich ran like he hadn’t missed a step, gaining 125 yards and scoring two touchdowns on the ground – including a 66-yard game-winning spring in the fourth quarter – as the Panthers rallied to defeat visiting Albany 21-14 on Friday, Sept. 22.
