It was an early winter wonderland in Rockford as Glencoe-Silver Lake and Jordan faced off for the Section 2AAA football championship on Friday, Nov. 3.
However, after four quarters and a brief overtime session, only the Hubmen were feeling gleeful as the Panthers’ season came to a close in a 42-41 loss.
“It was a great football game,” head coach Scott Tschimperle said. “Both teams laid everything on the line. In the end, Jordan made one more play than we did.”
A couple of inches of heavy, wet snow were dumped on Rockford Stadium prior to and early on during the matchup between No. 1 GSL and No. 2 Jordan.
The conditions figured to favor the Panthers’ ground game over the aerial attack of the Hubmen. However, neither team’s offense suffered much in the cold and snow.
