Gloria L. Schauer, 85, of Litchfield, died Friday, Nov. 17, 2017, at her home.
The funeral service was held Tuesday, Nov. 21, at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Litchfield, with interment in the Ripley Cemetery, Litchfield.
Gloria Leola (Rutske) Schauer, daughter of Harold and Minnie Rutske, was born July 4, 1932, in Glencoe. She graduated from Glencoe High School in 1951.
She was united in marriage to Ervin Schauer on Oct. 14, 1951, in Glencoe. They moved to Litchfield in 1956. Mrs. Schauer was a housewife and mother, and later worked as a secretary at State Farm and as a paraprofessional in special education for the Litchfield School District.
She was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Litchfield and active in the ladies aid. She was a caring and loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren always enjoyed their special time at the lake with grandpa and grandma, fishing off the dock. Mrs. Schauer’s interests included sewing, baking, crafting, bowling and cards. She loved spending time in the garden in the dirt (not pulling weeds). All the bounty from the garden was canned or frozen and quickly eaten by all her family.
She is survived by her children, Lynett (Wes) Holmgren, Connie (Bob) Kopplin and Percy Schauer, all of Litchfield; five grandchildren, Mocha (Lars) Dyrud, Cassandra Holmgren, Brooks Holmgren (Felicia Reed), Chelsea Kopplin (Jeremy Marshall) and Alex (Annie) Kopplin; eight great-grandchildren, Mia Truelove, Finn Dyrud, Eli Dyrud, Talen Reed, Lilyana Kopplin, Silas Kopplin, Elsie Kopplin and Willa Kopplin; brothers, Delbert (Ida) Rutske of Glencoe and John Rutske of Bloomington; and a sister-in-law, Lorraine Rutske of White Bear Lake.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ervin Schauer; parents, Harold and Minnie Rutske; and brothers, Leroy Rutske and Curtis Rutske.
