It’s been an offseason of change for the Glencoe-Silver Lake girls’ basketball team.
The Panthers bid farewell to an all-time talent in guard Maddie Monahan and graduated four seniors that played for last season’s subsection finalist. However, the squad also welcomed back some familiar faces that figure to make an impact this winter.
“I like how we look,” coach Jeff Monahan said. “We graduated four seniors, but a lot of the kids coming back played last season.”
The Panthers are returning two players that were injured last season in guard Alison Kettner and forward Emily Thalmann. Also back for the hoopsters are center Zoe Christensen, who sat out last season after suffering a second ACL tear in the 2016 section playoffs.
“Emily and Zoe – that is some nice size to add,” coach Monahan said. “Zoe really sets the tone and brings the rebounding we need. Thalmann can guard point guards as well as centers.”
