Helen Baker School surplus furniture on its way to Haiti

Band students and parents from Glencoe-Silver Lake (GSL) schools and members of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Glencoe gathered at the former Helen Baker Elementary School on Saturday to help load surplus furniture into a semi that will be sent to Haiti by Orphan Grain Train, a nonprofit organization located in Norfolk, Nebraska, in partnership with Haiti Lutheran Mission Society, USA.
Orphan Grain Train will be helping Haiti Lutheran Mission Society, USA, ship the furniture (which includes chairs, desks, tables and food trays) to Port-au-Prince, Haiti, where it will be accepted by the Rev. Thomas Bernard, pastor of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church of Port-au-Prince, and Josie Antoine, who runs the Love and Hope Orphanage in Croix de Bouquets, a suburb of Port-au-Prince.
Bernard intends to use the furniture in the various schools he oversees in his district and Antoine intends to use the furniture in the orphanage which she is currently expanding.
