The McLeod County Board of Commissioners on Tuesday approved a couple of items in preparation for the Morningside Avenue extension project in Glencoe, which will most like be constructed in 2019.
The project is considered the third phase of the Morningside improvements, and will extend the road from 11th Street to 16th Street. Morningside also is McLeod County’s County State Aid Highway (CSAH) 15.
The first item for approval was a cooperative agreement between the county and the city of Glencoe outlining cost shares and other items. In essence, the city and the county will each pay 50 percent of the costs associated with the project.
“It’s very similar to agreements we have had with the city in the past,” said McLeod County Highway Engineer John Brunkhorst.
Brunkhorst said the agreement will like be considered by the Glencoe City Council in early January.
