Silver Lake City Council approves housing study

The Silver Lake City Council approved a contract with Admark Resources of Sartell to conduct a housing study for a cost of $6,000 at its quarterly meeting April 2. The council had tabled the study last year to be able to budget for it in 2018.
The study will look at population and household data, employment data, single family home and rental housing market and current and future demand for housing. The study will look at the city and the surrounding areas.
Mike Schoenecker, president of Admark Resources was at the meeting to address any questions the council had. Schoenecker said the study usually takes about three months to complete and that he will present the findings to the council at that time.
He has done studies in Glencoe, Freeport, Melrose, Staples and Motley in the last year. The study will be used to identify and address current and future housing needs.
