The Plato Blue Jays improved to 2-0 on the season by means of a 4-2 win over visiting Winsted on Sunday, May 13.
Winsted took a 2-0 lead in the fifth inning with a pair of unearned runs off starting pitcher Adam Prehn. However, the Blue Jays battled back to knot the game at 2-all in the bottom of the sixth.
Two more runs in the bottom of the eighth gave reliever Chris Odegaard his first win of the season after the hosts held off the Wildcats in the top of the ninth.
Prehn went 4-2/3 innings, giving up one hit and three walks while striking out seven. Odegaard tossed 4-1/3 frames, allowing one hit and one walk while whiffing six.
Nolan Lepel, Tyler Lang and Prehn each drove in a run, while Matt Odegaard had two of the Blue Jays’ three hits in the contest.
Plato is back in action at Bluejay Stadium on Saturday against Watertown, with a first pitch scheduled for 1 p.m.
The Blue Jays are also scheduled to travel to Carver for a 2 p.m. start on Sunday.
