Glencoe Chapter 92 of the Experimental Aircraft Association – the South Central Minnesota Flyers – is hosting its annual fly-in, sweet corn and bratwurst feed Saturday, Sept. 1, at Vernon Perschau Field, Glencoe’s municipal airport.
The event is an up-close opportunity for people interested in aviation to see colorful, exotic, experimental, military and working-type aircraft. There will also be a chance to talk with pilots and owners of the aircraft. Many of the aircraft were built from kits or plans.
There will be aircraft from the FAA’s new category, light sport airplanes, as well as ultralight aircraft and World War II military aircraft. Vintage cars and tractors will also be on display.
The event also includes a sweet corn and bratwurst feed for a reasonable price.
The airport is two miles east of Glencoe and a mile south of Highway 212 on Dairy Avenue (County Road 1).
