In its most nail-biting contest of the season to date, the Plato Blue Jays opened the 2018 state Class C baseball tournament by gritting out a 1-0 win over the Luxemburg Brewers on Sunday, Aug. 26, at Joe Schleper Stadium in Shakopee.
Chris Odegaard started on the mound for Plato, went the distance, and also drove in the game-winning run on a tense evening in the southwest metro.
“You really can’t say enough about Chris,” Plato manager Adam Dammann said. “He’s a gamer who never gives up; he showed that on the mound and at the plate.”
Odegaard and Luxemburg starter Reed Pfannenstein dueled for inning after scoreless inning as evening turned to night in front of a full house full of excited – and anxious – fans clad in Plato blue.
