In the traditional season opener, GSL claimed four of the top six individual placements in the three-team meet, which also included Maple Lake/Lester Prairie/Holy Trinity, earning the victory with 31 points to 39 for the Raiders.
Connor Hallaway led the way for the Panthers, as he finished second in a time of 17 minutes, 57 seconds. Teammate Oscar Pena placed third in 18:18. Paul Sievert was fifth in 18:52, with Joe Knudten sixth in 19:07. Tison Werner closed out the scoring for GSL with a 15th-place finish of 21:41.
Head coach Jeff Delwiche said that his team “is looking very small, but the ones we have are in good shape and we are ready.”
