Robert “Bob” Homan, 69, formerly of Hutchinson, passed away unexpectedly from a heart attack Tuesday, Oct. 30, at his home in Edinburg, Texas. He was an amazing father to Matt and Becca, a beloved son and caring brother to his four siblings.
Mr. Homan will be remembered for his humor at card games, delicious dishes at potlucks and, above all, his passion for travel. He enjoyed learning about new cultures and trying new foods. Mr. Homan could always be caught talking about his next anticipated destination or fishing trip to South Padre. He also had a love for deer and pheasant hunting, which he did annually with friends for over 40 years. Family and friends meant everything, and he did everything he could for those dear to him. He was elated about becoming a grandpa this upcoming spring.
Bob was born July 29, 1949 in Glencoe, the son of Elvin “Speed” and Rosa (Goulet) Homan. He was baptized and confirmed at St. George Catholic Church and a graduate of Glencoe High School class of 1967.
Mr. Homan was a member of Hutchinson Legion Post No. 96. A disabled veteran who served our country in the U.S. Navy in Vietnam, he contacted agent orange and suffered for many years of its causes. Following his service, Mr. Homan worked at the Hutchinson 3M plant in molding, then later years in the warehouse until his retirement after 35 years. He spent his retirement living in a much warmer Texas.
Mr. Homan is preceded in death by his mother, Rosa Homan; sisters-in-law, Linda Homan and Barb Homan.
He is survived by son, Matthew Homan of Maple Grove; daughter, Rebecca and Justin Allen of Prior Lake; father, Elvin Homan of Hutchinson; sister, Barbara and Hartley Rosebrock of Hutchinson; brother, James Homan; and friend Lenny Dorset of Tell City, Ind., Michael and Georgina Homan of Abilene, Texas, and Patrick Homan of Yukon, Okla.; many nieces, nephews, family and friends.
A service with military honors at Fort Snelling will take place in June 2019, with a celebration of life at the VFW in Hutchinson to follow.
