Mark G. Kurtzweg, 53, husband of Ronda and father of Mitchell and Jake, passed away Friday, Jan. 18, in Upper Peninsula, Michigan.
Funeral services were held Friday, Jan. 25, 10 a.m., at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Hutchinson, with interment in Oakland Cemetery.
Pastor Kevin Oster was the officiating clergy.
Shirlee Landskroener was the organist. “Just As I Am,” “Beautiful Savior,” “On Eagle’s Wings,” and “How Great Thou Art” were the congregational hymns.
Dan Neubarth, Darrin Neubarth, Joel Froemming, Tony Tydlacka, Greg Tiemens, and Eric Gehrke were the casket-bearers.
Mark Glen Kurtzweg was born July 31, 1965, in Glencoe. He was the son of Virg and Marlys (Schatz) Kurtzweg. Mr. Kurtzweg was baptized as an infant and confirmed in his faith as a youth, both at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Hutchinson. He received his education in Hutchinson and was a graduate of the Hutchinson High School Class of 1983. Mr. Kurtzweg continued his education at Saint Cloud State University, earning a bachelor’s degree in industrial manufacturing. He also attended the University of Saint Thomas for business administration.
Mark was united in marriage to Ronda Hartsuiker at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church Sept. 30, 1989. This marriage was blessed with two children, Mitchell and Jake. Mark and Ronda resided at Lake Stella. He and Ronda shared 30 years of marriage. Mr. Kurtzweg was a member of Gethsemane Lutheran Church of Dassel.
Mr. Kurtzweg was employed at DS Smith Worldwide Dispensers for 22 years, with his last assignment as general manager for North American operations. He was a member of the Society of Plastics Engineers, Ducks Unlimited and Lake Stella Association.
Mr. Kurtzweg was a man full of life, and he lived it to the fullest. He enjoyed hunting with his boys, brother, father, many friends and his beloved dogs, Sadie and Lacy. Mr. Kurtzweg loved fishing with family and friends, sunset cruises on the lake with his wife, snowmobile trips with the guys, motorcycle trips with his brother and all those who meant the world to him. He also enjoyed traveling with his family and going to the cabin in Effie. Mr. Kurtzweg was a great cook with his double top-secret recipes and had a passion for hosting and keeping friends and family together at the lake. Those who knew Mark best knew they could call him anytime for advice and help; he was our rock. He was a loving husband, father, son, brother, uncle and friend who will be greatly missed.
We will cherish our memories and forever keep Mark alive in our hearts.
Mr. Kurtzweg passed away Friday, Jan. 18, in Upper Peninsula, Michigan, at the age of 53 years.
He is survived by his wife, Ronda Kurtzweg, of Lake Stella; sons, Mitchell Kurtzweg of Lake Stella, Jake Kurtzweg of Lake Stella; brothers, Kurt Kurtzweg, his wife, Connie and daughter, Kayla, of Hutchinson, Scott Kurtzweg, his wife, Ginny and daughters, Sydney, Hattie and Joce, of Bemidji; parents, Virg and Marlys Kurtzweg of Lake Stella; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Ralph and Louise Hartsuiker of Hutchinson; brothers-in-law, Harold Hartsuiker and his wife, Michon, of Golden Valley, Arvid Harstuiker and his wife, Sheila, of Stone Lake, Wisc.; many dear aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Mr. Kurtzweg is preceded in death by his grandparents, Harvey and Elmira Kurtzweg, and Elmer and Alvina Schatz.
