Plans to develop land north of Highway 212 and east of Harpel Bros. Chevrolet-Buick took another step forward Monday night when the city council accepted bids for storm sewer work.
The Glencoe City Council accepted the low bid of Schneider Excavating & Grading Inc. of Norwood Young America to perform the storm water work that will serve the property intended to house a Kwik Trip and possibly an AmericInn motel. The company’s bid of $175,736.60 was the lowest of nine bids received. It was $50,000 below the engineer’s estimate, said John Rodeberg of SEH.
The project can begin as soon as approval from the U.S. Army Corps. of Engineers is received. The city expects the go-ahead by the middle of the month or so, Rodeberg said. Schneider Excavating wants to start its portion of the project by June 1, Rodeberg told the council.
