Having won three of its last four games, two by comfortable margins, one might not expect the GSL boys’ hoops team to be struggling with much. But in their ongoing pursuit of the complete performance, the Panthers are in search of consistency.
That’s important with tough competition on the horizon, said coach Rob DeCorsey. At 2-0 against conference opponents and 7-5 overall, the Panthers are looking for improvement.
After last night’s clash with highly-touted Watertown-Mayer (details unavailable at press time), GSL will host Litchfield Friday, Jan. 17, 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 21, 5:45 p.m., they’ll host Mound Westonka. Both teams are among the stronger teams in their respective classes, DeCorsey said.
Howard Lake-Waverly-Winsted 57, Panthers 49
After a big win over Belle Plaine earlier in the week, the Panthers came out flat, struggling to get their offense on track.
“There was not a whole lot of movement. We had too many people standing around looking for their shot,” DeCorsey said. “When you come out flat, all the little things affect you.”
Making matters worse, the Lakers were shooting a torrid percentage, especially from three-point range. The blend helped Howard-Lake-Waverly-Winsted take a 32-27 lead to intermission.
