Although the city didn’t lose the federal and state aid dollars, the city council agreed that it was an oversight that shouldn’t have taken place. Mayor Jason Peirce said they were talking about the issue at the council’s February 2020 meeting to give closure to the issue.
In November 2019, the OSA sent then Stewart City Clerk Ronda Huls a letter advising the city that the volunteer firefighters’ relief association affiliated with the city did not fulfill statutory reporting requirements.
